Hurricane Sandy
When hurricane Sandy hit New York in late 2012, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald asked me to contribute to their coverage.
On the day of the storm, I wrote a preview piece about preparations in New York, published online here.
As the hurricane hit, I contributed updates from Brooklyn to the rolling coverage, online here.
The next day, I wrote a piece on the first impressions of the storm’s impact, online here.
I also did a live cross via Skype to Australia’s ABC television, to talk about the storm.
Finally, I hired a car and drove along the coast of Long Island, where the scale and extent of the damage was online just being realised. The resulting feature, including some photos I took myself (eg above), was published online (here), and in abridged form in the newspapers.
